- HIS MAJESTY'S SHIP/"PRINCESS IRENE"/6000 TONS. LENGTH 395 FT. BREADTH 54FT. DRAUGHT 20FT/ SPEED 23 KTS./WAS BUILT BY DENNY BROS, DUMBARTON FOR THE CANADIAN AND /PACIFIC RAILWAY CO. IN 1914./ SHE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE ROYAL NAVY ON THE 20TH/ JAN. 1915 AND JOINED H.M. MINELAYERS IN MARCH 1915. TWO MONTHS/ LATER DURING THE FORENOON OF THE 27TH. MAY THIS SHIP WAS/ DESTROYED AT SHEERNESS BY AN INTERNAL EXPLOSION AND / 77 OF H.M. DOCKYARD PERSONNEL WHOSE NAMES ARE INSCRIBED ON/ THE PANEL OPPOSITE WERE LOST./TO THE GLORY OF GOOD AND IN MEMORY OF THEM THE ALTAR,/ REREDOS AND TABLET ARE ERECTED.
