Description
Three-stepped base surmounted by pedestal, cornice and urn standing on a draped block. Inscription on three sides of the pedestal Wreath draped over the neck of the urn. Carved anchor on the top step and carved sword on the step below. Cross carved above the names.

6 O'CLOCK FACE: ERECTED BY/ PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION/ FROM THE INAHBITANTS/ OF HOYLE MILL./ TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN/ WHO LEFT THIS VILLAGE/ AND GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR/ HONOUR AND FREEDOM/ IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 18/ "GREATER LOVE HATH NO/ MAN THAN THIS." 3 O'CLOCK FACE: (NAMES)/ "AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE/ SUN, AND IN THE MORNING/ WE WILL REMEMBER THEM"/ THIS STONE WAS LAID BY/ W B GITTUS/ AND A HIRST SEPT. 17TH 1921 9 O'CLOCK FACE: (NAMES)
