Description
TRIUMPHAL ARCH AND GATEWAY FLANKED BY COLONNADE WITH TERRACES OVERLOOKING THE RIVER TRENT. THREE ARCHED OPENINGS FILLED WITH ORNAMENTAL WROUGHT IRON GATES. SET IN 36 ACRE MEMORIAL GARDEN. CITY COAT OF ARMS IN HIGH RELIEF ABOVE THE MAIN CORNICE.

History
The original design of the memorial included steps to the riverside. Apparently these steps were removed after WW2. The gardens were opened on 11 November 1927.
