Description
Now reinstated, the panels have been set within individual steel frames placed to echo the composition of the soldiers in John Singer Sargent's 1919 painting 'Gassed' (Art.IWM.ART 1460) Previously the eleven name panels, taken from the original memorial, with dedicatory inscription placed on the far right hand side were set within a black steel frame. Original memorial was in the form of a large wall tablet with pediment and double pilasters framing eleven name tablets. A carved wreath was placed in the centre of the pediment above the pilasters.
