Description
Tall cross on traceried octagonal base and stepped octagonal pedestal with inscribed tablet. On either side is a tapering flight of steps, at the head of which is a pair of gates. Flanking the steps are splayed walls with moulded coping and square pedestals with square iron lanterns. Inset tablets bear the names of parishes, towns and villages in the city and county. The county tablets are either side of the memorial cross, facing the street, while the city panel is on the reverse of the memorial cross, facing the churchyard. On the gate pillars are raised tablets with the names of men and women from St Maryâs parish who died in the First World.

DETAILED CONDITION REPORT COMPILED BY NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY HERITAGE CONSERVATION STUDENT, 1996 GRADE II LISTED BY ENGLISH HERITAGE REF 6/71
