IN HONOUR OF THE VOLUNTEERS WHO LEFT NOTTINGHAMSHIRE TO FIGHT IN THE INTERNATIONAL BRIGADE, SPAIN 1936-1939. THEY FOUGHT ALONGSIDE THE SPANISH PEOPLE TO STOP FACISM AND SAVE LIBERTY AND PEACE FOR ALL. THEY WENT BECAUSE THEIR EYES COULD SEE NO OTHER WAY. NO PARASAN./ (NAMES) Plaque: In proud and grateful/ memory of the men/ and women of this county/ who have sacrificed/ their lives for others/ and for freedom./ We will remember them./ This plaque was unveiled by/ Councillor David Taylor/ Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council/ on October 22nd 2009./
