Three stone steps surmounted by large stone cenotaph. At the top carved in reflief is the borough coat of arms in a wreath with moto.

(West side): TO/ THE GALLANT/ MEN OF HALIFAX/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918/ DEDICATED 15TH OCTOBER 1922/ ALSO TO THE GALLANT MEN AND WOMEN OF HALIFAX WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE WORLD WAR 1939-1945/ DEDICATED 9TH NOVEMBER 1947 (East side): "YET IS THEIR HOPE FULL OF IMMORTALITY" WISDOM III/ (South side): IN MEMORY OF ALL WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY (North side): KOREAN WAR 1950 - 1953 NOT ONE OF THEM IS FORGOTTEN BEFORE GOD
