History
June 2010: Restoration work has been completed. The memorial has been cleaned and damaged stonework repaired or replaced. The paving around the memorial has been replaced with stone slabs. The ironwork bollards and lighting columns have been cleaned and rejuvenated and a new piked chain installed to replace that which was removed as part of the war effort in the Second World War. Finally, the traffic bollards have been replaced with ones which are more in keeping with the memorial and wiring has been run from the old bollard's position in order to provide lighting to the restored lanterns on the memorial. March 2010: Work is currently underway to restore the memorial. Research undertaken to inform the restoration has discovered that 45 men who were born or who lived in Worksop and who fell in the Great War are not included on the memorial. The project by Bassetlaw District Council and the County Council, part funded by English Heritage, includes cleaning and repair to stone work, replacement of missing chains and lamps and a new plaque for missing names. It is also hoped to add more names to the memorial from any conflict since the Great War. The project to add the additional name plaque is still underway. 1970's: Paving around the memorial replaced with crazy paving.
