Description
Memorial garden with stone shelter. Ornate, limestone memorial plinth, topped by flagpole, bears four bronze plaques with white lettering. Laurel garlands in relief surround plaques. Carved lion heads on four corners. Whole stands on raised platform.

PLINTH: 1914-1919/ TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM BAILIFFE BRIDGE AND THOSE WHO WORKED AT CLIFTON AND VICTORIA MILLS, ALSO FLUSH MILLS, HECKMONDWIKE WHO IN THE GREAT WAR FOUGHT, FELL AND CONQUERED. THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED BY SIR WILLIAM AND LADY ACKROYD OF CLIFFE HALL, LIGHTCLIFFE A.D. 1921/ "SO THEY PASSED OVER AND ALL THE TRUMPETS SOUNDED FOR THEM ON THE OTHER SIDE"/ (NAMES) IN GARDEN SHELTER: IN THANKFULNESS FOR VICTORY FOR PEACE RESTORED AND FOR THE LIVES OF THOSE RETURNED FROM THE WAR IN SAFETY, THIS GARDEN WAS PRESENTED TO THE PEOPLE OF BAYLIFFE BRIDGE BY SIR WILLIAM AND LADY ACKROYD OF CLIFFE HALL, LIGHTCLIFFE A.D. 1921/
