Description
Two-stepped base surmounted by square tapering plinth, shaft and wheeled Celtic Cross. Inscription in relief on two bronze plaques on the 6 o'clock face of the plinth and top step.

  • North Devon Journal - Thursday 05 May 1921 COMBE MARTIN HONOURS ITS HEROES. WAR MEMORIAL UNVEILED. .... The memorial, which takes the form of an imposing and dignified Celtic Cross, is executed in Cornish silver grey granite, and stands 15ft. 6in. in height, having a landing 8ft. square, and base and sub-base 5ft.. 9in. square. The massive die weighs over two tons, and is surmounted by the cross itself, which stands 9ft. in height from the top of the die. The whole of the cross is of fine axed work, the front of is enriched with interlaced carving. The landing, base, and three faces the die are in rustic work, the front face having raised panel, to which is fixed the moulded bronze tablet, bearing in raided letters the following inscription and names of the fallen heroes:
