Description
Arch-headed marble tablet attached to a wall mounted, portrait orientated, arch-headed black marble backboard. Incised inscription infilled with black paint, some of which, is either flaking away or missing. The dedication at the base of the tablet to his mother is intact and legible.

JESUS + SAVIOUR. / IN MEMORY OF / ERNEST HENRY GODOLPHIN QUICKE / OF NEWTON HOUSE, NEWTON ST. CYRES / WHO DIED THERE ON PALM SUNDAY / MARCH 20TH. 1921, AGED 65 YEARS. / ALSO OF HIS ELDEST SON / EDWARD OWEN ST. CYRES GODOLPHIN QUICKE / WHO WAS KILLED IN ACTION / SUNDAY OCTOBER 25TH 1914 / AT GIVENCHY AND BURIED IN THE / BATTLEFIELD THERE, AGED 27 YEARS / BOTH GREATLY LOVED, BEING BLESSED / WITH THE GIFT OF CHARITY AND ALSO WITH / WONDROUS COURAGE, KINDNESS, AND GENEROSITY. / AND TO THE VERY DEAR MEMORY OF / ADELAIDE MARY, / WIFE OF THE ABOVE ERNEST QUICKE / WHO DIED JUNE 11TH. 1943. / " THE LORD WAS MY HELPER."
