- Daily Herald - Monday 11 July 1921 Page 1 COUNTRY FIRE DRAMA Firemen Leave Memorial Service to Fight Flames From Our Own Correspondent Sunday - There was a incident today, for when the Walton-on-Thames firemen paraded for unveiling of a war memorial news came of a fire at Burhill. Endeavours were made to keep the fire in check till after the ceremony so as not to interfere with the firemen, but when the men were drawn up at the memorial, awaiting the arrival of Earl Beatty. a motorist arrived and said that field and trees were on fire near Walton Cottage Hospital. The firemen left immediately and put out the flames when they had reached the hospital fencing. ---
