- Circular base surrounded by four figures of soldiers in mourning pose with heads bowed and arms reversed. Surmounted by enormous flag pole surmounted by a crown. Coats of arms representing the Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, City of Sheffield, Yorkshire Dragoons (Queens Own), Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers, Machine Gun Corps, Tank Corps, York and Lancaster Regiment, RAMC and RASC around the base of the plinth.
