- Description
- Sculptured frieze depicting Our Lord driving the money changers out of the temple. Christ is depicted in priest's clothing with tassled cord, chasing the userers who are depicted as Leeds manufacturers, their wives and servants. The whip he is using to chase them is made of seven tassles, each one representing one of the seven deadly sins. Behind Christ is the hound of St Dominic who is calling up the followers of Christ to continue the good work. A fallen cash desk is depicted at the feet of the dog. A woman with a child in her arms is depicted sitting in front of Christ. She takes no notice of what is going on as she knows the event it is nothing to do with her. It is made up of five stone tablets set together within a wooden frame to form a panel. Inscription is carved at the top of the tablets on the far right hand tablet.
