Description
Bridgehead comprised of two crescent walls at either side of Trinity Street, leading to Victoria Bridge over the River Tame. Two pedestals, each 10ft high, flank the bridge entrance surmounted by a sculpted group. Each pedistal bears an 8ft high bronze figure. On the left pedestal, the figure of an angel supports the body of a dead sailor. On the right pedestal, the figure of an angel supports the body of a dead soldier. The pedestals are themselves flanked by crescent wing walls bearing tablets with regiments and names. The walls terminate at secondary pedestals which are surmounted by lions crouchant.

JUTLAND, ZEEBRUGGE, THE FALKLAND ISLES, REMEMBER THE LOVE OF THEM THAT CAME NOT HOME FROM THE WAR. SEE YOU TO IT THAT THEY SHALL NOT HAVE DIED IN VAIN (ARMY PEDESTAL): 1914 1918.
