- Description
- A grey marble rectangular tablet, the longer axis vertical, resting on a flat plinth, at top a straight pediment with three equally spaced decorative bosses coloured gold. Below is an escutcheon with the Battenberg Coat of Arms incorporating The Royal Coat of Arms with the cadency mark of the first son all in full natural colour . Then the commemoration incised in capital letters and coloured black .

WHO DIED APRIL 23RD 1922 / AGED 33 YEARS ALSO PRINCE MAURICE / VICTOR DONALD OF BATTENBERG / K.C.V.O. LIEUTENANT K.R.R.C. WHO / FELL IN ACTION AT ZONNEBEKE / OCTOBER 27TH 1914 AGED 23 YEARS / TO WHOSE MEMORY THEIR BROTHER / OFFICERS HAVE SET UP THIS TABLET NB The death of Lord Leopold Arthur Louis Mountbatten was not conflict related and no name record has been created for him
