COWES TOWN COUNCIL/ This plaque is to commemorate the 50th Anniversary/ of the bombing of Cowes on the 4th/ 5th May 1942,/ during which the Officers and Crew of the Polish Ship/ the "O.R.P. Blyskawica"/ bravely defended the town and were largely instrumental/ in reducing the number of casualties/ and in saving a large part of Cowes/ from being destroyed./ 3rd May, 1992/ G.J Banks Town Mayor
