- MURAL WITH MANY FIGURES DEPICTED IN IT ON THE LEFT SIDE IS AN UNKNOWN SERVICEMAN GRADUAND WHO REPRESENTS ALL THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN WW1 BUT WHOSE DEGREES COULD NEVER BE CONFERRED. THE STANDING FIGURES REPRESENT LEADING INTELLECTUAL FIGURES OF THE DAY: ROBERT BRIDGES; A E HOUSMAN; JAMES FRAZER; JOHN MCTAGGART; WILLIAM BATESON; GILBERT MURRAY; FRANCIS DARWIN. ALSO DEPICTED ARE VICE-CHANCELLORS OF THE COUNTRY'S UNIVERSITIES
