- A large brass plaque with a central shouldered segmental arch, on a similarly shaped oak board. The badge of the 1st Battalion the King's (Liverpool) Regiment is depicted in the arch, and there is a frieze of oak leaves and acorns against a black background surrounding the inscription, with a cross within a quatrefoil at each corner. The inscription is incised, and painted black

- To the memory of/ Thomas Hylton Madden/ 2nd Lieutenant 1st King's Liverpool Regiment/ Born 30th April 1895/ Killed in Action at Givenchy France 10th March 1915/ while leading his platoon in a charge on the German trenches/ He was the only son of the Venerable T.J. Madden/ Archdeacon of Liverpool and Vicar of this Church/ "Greater love hath no man than this - that a man/ lay down his life for his friends" - St. John XV.13/ This tablet is erected by the friends of the gallant young officer/ connected with the Parish and Congregation of Christ Church Southport
