Description
Cross of Sacrifice of Portland Stone (Similar to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission pattern) surmounting octagonal stone plinth. Plinth bears names and stands on three-stepped octagonal base. Additional stone on top step of base bears names of fallen from WW2.

Details: Land known as Greyfriars Paddock was bought for £200. Public subscription did not not provide enough funds and so the Council agreed to covers remaining costs. The War Memorial Committee passed on the Covenant and the residual fundung in 1922. Memorial Ground pathed, shrubs planted and seats a gift from JJ Armfield JP.
