- Rectangular metal plaque , the longer axis horizontal . Set on a concrete base , the commemoration in raised letters coloured dark blue against a light blue background ,in the top right corner the arms of the City of Southampton in natural colour , and a full colour image of a Spitfire on the left partly outside the boundary of the plaque.. An outline of a spitfire constructed of bricks set into the ground in front of the plaque .
