- Description
- An oak screen surmounted by a panel with the start and end dates of WW1 in raised gold letters , below this a panel the width of the screen with pierced decoration , then in the centre a gold cross with concave curved borders and bifurcated ends . Either side of this is a panel with part of the inscription in raised letters coloured gold. Below are three panels , the left most with a simulated crown of thorns ,the right most with a large poppy wreath . The centre panel is divided vertically by a wide gold raised band ,either side of which are the names in white. In front of the screen is a book of remembrance . which is not part of the memorial . This description is accurate as at August 2019 , earlier images show the crown of thorns not present and a second poppy wreath in its place . Attached images show both variants
