- FRANK BRANDT, CAPTAIN RN WHO ON 1 NOVEMBER 1914, OFF CORONEL, CHILE, DIED AT HIS POST IN COMMAND OF HMS MONMOUTH A UNIT OF SQUADRON LED BY ADMIRAL CRADOCK, HMS GOOD HOPE AGAINST AN OVERPOWERING GERMAN SQUADRON. BOTH VESSELS SANK IN FLAMES, WITH THEM PERISHED ADMIRAL, OFFICERS MEN ALL WILLING TO DIE RATHER THAN SURRENDER. BORN 1871. ELDER SON OF FRANCIS BRANDT ICS AND OF LUCY SOPHIA HIS WIFE.
