Description
Wall-mounted cast bronze brass plaque with attached. plaque bearing carved inscription and names and a dried poppy seed hem on stem. The outer bronze bears battle honours in gilt lettering. At the top is a female figure reclining with one hand to head, other hand holding laurel wreath. figure has two Regimental colour standards across lap and behind her to the left is a sphinx and a pyramid painted in gilt. Behind her to the right is a sun rising painted in gilt and below that a cannon. Down the left side of the plaque is a relief of a soldier in tropical dress with his rifle reversed and below the figure a gilt-painted "x". surrounding the plaque is a relief border of flowers with Battle Honours picked out in gold at the top of the plaque there is a gilt-painted crown with the initials "VR".

BATTALION/ LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT, WHO LOST THEIR LIVES/ IN THE NILE EXPEDITION, 1898/ (NAMES)/ *KILLED IN ACTION OR DIED OF WOUNDS/ THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED IN THEIR HONOUR BY THE/ OFFICERS, PAST & PRESENT AND THE WARRANT OFFICERS/NON COMMISSIONED OFFICER & RANK & FILE OF THE/ LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. (LATE 10TH. FOOT)
