Marble tablet with triangular pediment mounted on a black stone base. Black inscription. Sword in relief at base the base of the marble tablet.

SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF / WILLIAM CASE / MAJOR IN HER MAJESTY'S 52ND REGIMENT OF FOOT / AND BREVET LIEUTENANT COLONEL IN THE ARMY / SON OF PHILIP MALLET CASE ESQ. OF TESTERTON HOUSE, / NORFOLK. MAJOR CASE ENTERED THE ARMY IN 1832 / AND PROCEEDED WITH HIS REGIMENT TO INDIA IN 1846 / HE SERVES AT THE SIEGE OF MOOLTAN AND COMMANDED / THE COMPANIES OF THE 52ND REGIMENT ENGAGED IN THE / ASSAULT ON THE SUBURBS OF THAT CITY ON WHICH OCCASION / HE WAS SEVERLEY WOUNDED. HE WAS AFTERWARDS PRESENT AT / THE SURRENDER OF THE FORT AND GARRISON / OF CHENIOTE AND AT THE BATTLE OF GOOJERAT. HE CLOSED HIS / GALLANT CAREER BY A SOLDIER'S DEATH WHEN IN COMMAND OF / HIS REGIMENT AT THE BATTLE OF CHINHUT IN OUDE. HE FOUGHT / IN DEFENCE OF LUCKNOW ON THE 30TH DAY OF JUNE 1857. HE / FELL AT THE HEAD OF HIS MEN WHILST LEADING THEM ON / AGAINST OVERWHELMING NUMBERS OF THE MUTINOUS SEPOYS
