Description
A stone fluted Doric column on a square pedestal standing on a raised plinth. The pedestal has one recessed niche in each face and a frieze of laurel wreaths. On the top of the column is a small viewing platform surrounded by six caryatids. These figures of victory are topped by a figure of Britannia standing on a globe.

History
Several restorations. In 2004/5 the Norfolk Historic Buildings Trust and Norfolk Museums and Archaeology Service began a £1 million project to restore and interpret the Monument. The Monument was cleaned as far as practicable (to remove all the blackening would cause significant damage to the surface), and stonework replaced where necessary. Stone for this was obtained from the recently re-opened original quarries at Cullalloe, and it is thus possible to see what the original colour would have been and where repairs have been effected. Over the years, the land level round the base of the monument had risen, and 600 tons of sand and earth were removed to take it back to the original level. The fine 1860s cast iron railings have been replicated, the surrounding area paved, and information panels (and seats) placed for the benefit of visitors. Other restorations include 1982/3 when the Coade-stone Britannia and the caryatids supporting her were replaced with glass reinforced resin. Post-WW2 to repair lightning damage. 1859 to repair storm damage.
