Description
FIVE STEPPED OCTAGONAL BASE SURMOUNTED BY PLINTH, SHAFT, OPEN LANTERN AND CROSS. INSCRIPTION ON METAL PLAQUES ATTACHED TO THE SIDES OF THE PLINTH AND LOWER PART OF THE SHAFT CARVED TRACERY DESIGN AT THE TOP OF THE SHAFT AND ON THE CROSS. WREATH CARVED ON THE FRONT OF THE MEMORIAL AND ON FOUR SIDES OF THE PLINTH ARE DEPICTED CARVINGS OF A SOLDIER, SAILOR, AIRMAN AND NURSE.

PLAQUE ONE: IN ETERNAL REMEMBRANCE OF THE MEN OF SOLIHULL WHO WENT FORTH AT THE CALL OF KING AND COUNTRY TO FIGHT IN THE GREAT WAR, MANFULLY THEY FACED HARDSHIP, DANGER, DEATH ITSELF IN THE CAUSE OF LIBERTY. THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO RETURNED NOT AGAIN ARE HERE INSCRIBED. THEIR BODIES ARE BURIED IN PEACE AND THEIR NAME LIVETH UNTO GENEREATION AND GENERATION/ ECCLUS.
