- TABLET: 1914 1919 / THIS TABLET HAS BEEN ERECTED TO COMMEMORATE THE / MILITARY OCCUPATION OF THIS HOSPITAL AS A WAR HOSPITAL / DURING THE GREAT WAR / FORTY FIVE THOUSAND OFFICERS & MEN OF ALL RANKS FROM / ALL UNITS OF HIS MAJESTY'S FORCES RECEIVED TREATMENT HERE / SICK & WOUNDED FROM EVERY BATTLE FRONT INCLUDING / THOUSANDS FROM ALL DOMINIONS OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE / IT IS ALSO INTENDED TO PRESERVE THE MEMORY OF HEROIC / PATRIOTS WITH WHICH THEY BORE THEIR SUFFERING LOWER PLAQUE: THIS TABLET WAS PRESENTED BY THE / VOLUNTARY WORKERS AND WAS UNVEILED BY / FIELD MARSHAL EARL HAIG, K.T., G.C.B., O.M., / AND DEDICATED BY / THE LORD BISHOP OF NORWICH / ON 30TH NOVEMBER 1921.
