FORMERLY OF THE / 32ND CORNWALL LIGHT INFANTRY WITH WHICH / REGIMENT HE SERVED IN THE 2ND SIKH WAR 1848-9 / BEING PRESENT AT THE SEIGE OF MOOLTAN / AND THE BATTLE OF COOJERAT / ALSO DURING THE INDIAN MUTINY 1857-9 / INCLUDING THE EVER MEMORABLE DEFENCE OF THE RESIDENCY OF LUCKNOW / HE DIED SEP 12TH 1889 AGED 56 YEARS / THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS COMRADES / PAST AND PRESENT OF THE ABOVE REGIMENT / IN TOKEN OF THEIR ESTEEM AND REGRET / "I WILL GIVE YOU REST"
