History
In 2017 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £3,520 for conservation and repair works. The memorial had a build-up on soiling and biological growth and a number of the construction joints were open or had cracked mortar. The inscription was becoming difficult to read as the paintwork on the lead letters was failing. Corrosion could also be seen on the surrounding railings which has been caused by defective paint work. The grant funding supported works to re-point the memorial’s construction joints and to clean it. The lead lettering of the inscription and the surrounding ironwork fencing was re-painted
