- THIS CROSS COMMEMORATES NEARLY/ 100 OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE 6TH BATTALION/ LONDON REGIMENT WHO FELL IN ACTION/ AT THE BATTLE OF LOOS, ON SEPTEMBER/25TH 1915 AND WERE BURIED IN THE FIELD/ ON THE NIGHT OF SEPTEMBER 28./ IT STOOD UPON THE BATTLEFIELD FOR/ OVER THREE YEARS, AND WAS REPLACED/ BY A MORE PERMANENT CROSS IN/ FEBRUARY 1919/ "THEIR BODIES ARE BURIED IN PEACE/ BUT THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE"
