THE 16TH BATTALION/ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS/WAS FORMED AT LLANDUDNO/IN NOVEMBER 1914 BY/COL. T.A.WYNNE-EDWARDS V.D./IT SERVED IN FRANCE AND/BELGIUM 1915-1918/./ON NOV 17TH 1918, BEING THE/FIRST BRITISH UNIT TO ENTER/THE VILLAGE OF OBRECHIES/AFTER THE EVACUATION BY THE/GERMANS, IT WAS PRESENTED/WITH A FLAG BY THE COMMUNITY./THIS FLAG TOGETHER WITH/THE KING'S COLOURS WERE DEPOSITED/IN THIS CATHEDRAL IN JUNE 1919/WHEN THE BATTALION WAS /DISBANDED
