Description
Three-stepped base surmounted by a cenotaph set within raised ornamental gardens with stone walls at the perimeter. Whole is surmounted by a sarcophagus with draped glad. Names are carved on the sides of the plinth. Below the cornice and above the band is an anchor carved within a wreath and enclosed by swag.

6 o'clock face: COUNTY BOROUGH OF WALSALL/ TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVE AND GRATITUDE TO/ THE MEN OF THE BOROUGH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR/ THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WORLD WAR 1914-1918/ THIS CENOTAPH HAS BEEN ERECTED/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE/ 1ST OCTOBER 1921 Face facing the bridge: THEY WERE NUMBERED AMONGST THOSE WHO, AT THE/ CALL OF KING AND COUNTRY, LEFT ALL THAT WAS DEAR TO/ THEM ENDURED HARNESS, FACED DANGER, AND FINALLY/ PASSED OUT OF THE SIGHT OF MEN BY THE PATH OF DUTY AND/ SELF-SACRIFICE, GIVING UP THEIR OWN LIVES THAT OTHERS/ MIGHT LIVE IN FREEDOM./ LET THOSE THAT COME AFTER SEE TO IT THAT THEIR NAMES/ BE NOT FORGOTTTEN
