History
1998: Cross and railings repainted, stone path cleaned, wall repaired and statue restored.; In 1998, a local Committee undertook a project to repair the war memorial. The figure of Christ had been stolen in the mid 1990's and was recovered in 1997. It had been donated by a widow to commemorate the fallen after World War I. The local community sought to repair and return the figure to the memorial and also undertake repairs to the memorial including re-pointing, cleaning and improving the area around the memorial to ensure safe access. The project received £250 from the Small Grants Scheme of the War Memorials Trust. 1997: Statue found in Police Store but arms had broken off. 1995: Statue stolen.
