TWO-STEPPED BASE SURMOUNTED BY A PEDESTAL WITH COLUMNS IN EACH CORNER SUPPORTING UPPER PLINTH WITH RELIEF IMAGES SHOWING THE WORK OF THE FOUR SERVICES CARVED ONTO THE SIDES AND ALSO SURROUNDED BY FOUR COLUMNS. COLUMNS SUPPORT THE SLAB UPON WHICH IS A STATUE OF A SOLDIER WITH FIXED BAYONET GOING INTO BATTLE. NAMES CARVED IN GOLD LETTERING ON GREY MARBLE TABLETS SET INTO THE SIDES OF THE PEDESTAL. RELIEFS DEPICT: 12 O'CLOCK FACE - ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS TEND THE WOUNDED 6 O'CLOCK FACE - SOLDIERS GOING OVER THE TOP 3 O'CLOCK FACE - ARETHUSA, HAVING SUNK THE GERMAN WARSHIP SENDS OUT RESCUE BOATS TO PICK THE GERMAN SAILORS 9 O'CLOCK FACE - ARTILLERY IN ACTION
