TWO-STEPPED BASE SURMOUNTED BY TWO PLINTHS AND FIGURE OF A SERVICEMAN IN FULL BATTLEDRESS WITH RIFLE. INSCRIPTION ON METAL PLAQUES ATTACHED TO THE SIDES OF THE PLINTHS. WHOLE IS SURROUNDED BY AN ORNAMENTAL GARDEN WREATH WITH CROSSED TORCHES IN RELIEF AT THE TOP OF THE PLINTH. TOWN CREST ON THE PLAQUE ON THE 6 O'CLOCK FACE
