This monument is erected / by the / officers of the Queens Royal Regiment / as a tribute of respect / to the Memory of / the late Lieutenant Colonel KINGSBURY / who departed this life on the 14th august 1813 / aged 46 years, / After having served his Country / Thirty three years. Twenty six of which / were in the above Regiment. / He was wounded / at the Memorable Siege of Gibraltar, / was in the Action of the 1st of June, 1794, / and served in the Campaigns, / of Egypt, Portugal and Spain in 1808 / and 1809 / and Walcheren / and latterly under / the Marquis of WELLINGTON, / in Spain and Portugal, / and at the Battle of Salamanca, / was severely wounded / and his Horse killed under him.
