- A brass plaque with a checked top mounted on a marble tablet also with a checked top. The brass plaque has foliate decoration all around the edges. At the top of the plaque is a cross and on either side of the cross are the insignia of the units mentioned in the dedication.

WILLIAM ROCHESTER POTTER/ EAST SURREY REGIMENT (ATTACHED M.G.C.)/ ONLY SON OF/ WILLIAM AND LAURA POTTER OF SANDERSTEAD/ AND GRANDSON OF THE LATE/ THOMAS POTTER OF HAPSTEAD HOUSE IN THIS PARISH/ A DEVOTED SON & BROTHER, A LOYAL FRIEND, A BRAVE SOLDIER/ SHORTLY AFTER THE DECLARATION OF WAR (SEPTR. 1914) RELINQUISHING/ A PROMISING CAREER HE JOINED THE 18TH BATTN. ROYAL FUSILIERS/ (PUBLIC SCHOOLS BRIGADE) AS A PRIVATE AND AFTER ACTIVE/ SERVICE IN FRANCE, RECEIVED A COMMISSION IN AUGUST 1916/ RETURNED TO FRANCE AND DIED A SOLDIER'S DEATH AT WANCOURT/ NR ARRAS ON APRIL 24TH 1917, IN HIS 26TH YEAR./ THROUGH MY BODY LIES IN AN ALIEN LAND, YET IS MY/ HEART IN ENGLAND AND MY SOUL RESTS WITH THE LORD.
