- The tablet has a side head in relief with the inscription on each side.

- Left column: Sacred To The Memory Of John Pennycuick C.S.I. Colonel Royal Engineers Late President Of The Royal Indian Engineering College, Coopers Hill. Born January 18th. 1841 Entered Into Rest March 5th 1911. Aged 70. Right column: This Memorial Is Placed By Some Cooper's Hill Men In Token Of Their Esteem For The Statesmanlike Manner In Which He Governed Them And Of Their Gratitude For The Friendly Interest He Took In Their Work And Sports.
