ON SUNDAY APRIL 24TH 1988 LIEUTENANT COLONEL / SIMON STANFORD-TUCK R.G.J., PLANTED A BEECH TREE / IN THE CHURCHYARD IN MEMORY OF HIS FATHER / WING COMMANDER R. R. (BOB) STANFORD-TUCK / D.S.O. D.F.C. AND TWO BARS / WHOSE AIRCRAFT CRASH LANDED AT HORSMONDEN / IN 1940. / DWELLINGS SUBSEQUENTLY ERECTED NEAR THE SITE BY / MR H. J. (PETE) HIGHWOOD WERE NAMED TUCK / VILLAS TO COMMEMORATE THE WING-COMMANDER'S / ACHIEVEMENTS.
