- Description
- An elaborate runic cross on a square pillar. At the top of each face are recessed figures: St George, the Black Prince and representatives of each of the three services. Plaques bearing names and inscriptions are bronze and the column stands on an octagonal platform filled with cobblestones.

- The column was vandalised and repaired in1981. Planned recutting and refurbishing in progress November 2007 (Canterbury City Council Canterbury Area member Panel 5 Nov. 2007) Ap. 2008 refurbishment began: recutting and reshaping lettering and carvings, cleaning and preservation work to bronze plaques and refurbishment of railings. Undertaken by Heritage Stone Restoration Co., Bromley . Cost £9000.(City Council news release).
