- Dover Express - Friday 16 November 1923 ARMISTICE DAY AT SHEPHERDSELL. "ARMISTICE DAY AT SHEPHERDSWELL. A combined service for Armistice Day and the dedication of the and unveiling of the War Memorial, erected by the British Legion, was held at Shepherdswell Church and at the Memorial on Sunday morning."
- Dover Express - Friday 30 March 1923 SHEPHERDSWELL PARISH COUNCIL MEETING. ANNUAL PARISH MEETING. "Correspondence between the local secretary, of the British Legion and the Parish Council with regard to the proposed erection of a memorial in the open as well as the one the Church, was read; and Major Archer explained that it had been considered by the British Legion that it would be nice to have some memorial in the shape of a cross open. After some discussion Major Archer proposed that the question be left over for discussion at the next large parish meeting in the mean time, the Legion to propose some suitable site and form for the memorial to take. "
