- Description
- Three-course red brick octagonal sectioned foundation supporting a single-stepped octagonal base surmounted by an octagonal skirted plinth & capping stone. Rising from the plinth is a second multi-sided plinth further surmounted by a moulded collar & stout eight concave-sided column almost elliptical in section, terminating with a pitched roof tabernacle. A leaded relief comprising Christ on the Cross flanked by standing figures of The Virgin Mary & St. John the Evangelist occupies the front recessed face of tabernacle. On the lower plinth faces, the inscription lettering overlaps in relief. Upper plinth inscription is also in relief but uniquely, the lettering folds around the corners of each face.
