- TABLET AND SURROUND FLANKED BY 2 PILASTRES, EACH SURMOUNTED BY AN URN ON A TAPERED PEDESTAL IN HIGH RELIEF, DRAPED WITH A SWAG OF FOLIAGE, AND RESTING ON A SEMI-CIRCULAR CONSOLE. SIMPLE PEDIMENT ABOVE THE PLAIN CORNICE. KCB INSIGNIA IN HIGH RLEIEF ON THE PEDIMENT. ACHIEVEMENT. CREST: WITHIN A COLLAR OF THE BATH, ISSUANT FROM A CROWN VALLARY AND EAGLES HEAD AND WINGS. MOTTO. NUNC ET NUNQUAM

- SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF/ MAJOR-GENERAL SIR CHARLES DEACON KCB/ OF THE MADRAS ARMY/ WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 30TH OF DECEMBER 1842 AGED 65 YEARS/ AFTER A FAITHFUL SERVICE OF FORTY YEARS/ LEAVING A NAME BELOVED BY HIS FRIENDS, RESPECTED BY THE GOVERNMENT/ AND HONOURED BY HIS FELLOW SOLDIERS/ THIS TABLET WAS ERECTED BY HIS WIDOW/ ALSO JOAN ANN DEACON, RELICT OF/ MAJOR-GENERAL SIR CHARLES DEACON KCB/ WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 19TH MARCH 1856/ IN HER 81ST YEAR
