Description
Roofed shrine on brick face with recess containing figure of Saint George in mediaeval armour with shield. Figure based on sculpture by Donatello in Florence. The statue was originally coloured, but the colours had been allowed to fade by 1946 and were not replaced

Ap.1946 letters had become indistinct: by Nov. 1946 the panels had been replaced withe WW2 names added.Autumn 1999 statue stolen. By 2000: Grade II listed Mr 2002 application for English Heritage grant (faculty 12 Mar. 2002).
