THIS MONUMENT/ IS ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF/ THE OFFICERS/ THE NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS/ AND SOLDIERS/ OF THE 80TH REGIMENT OF FOOT/ OR STAFFORDSHIRE VOLUNTEERS/ WHO FELL/ DURING THE SUTLEJ CAMPAIGN/ OF 1845 AND 1846/ BY THEIR SURVIVING COMRADES/ THESE DECORATIONS/ WERE AWARDED TO THE LATE/ LT.
