- Unveiling-The Scotsman - Monday 12 September 1921-Callander - The Callander war memorial is designed after the style of an old Scottish rnercat cross, with rustic steps and base, and a round shaft surmounted by the lion rampant. On the sides of the large block supporting the shaft are fixed bronze panels modelled in bas relief with appropriate inscription. Provost Dow presided at the unveiling ceremony. The memorial was unveiled by the Right Hon. the Earl of Ancaster, Superior of the Burgh of Callander. The prayer of dedication was offered by the Rev. T. Burnett Peter BD, minister of the parish of Callander. Viscount Esher GCB GCVO on behalf of the subscribers handed over the custody of the memorial to the Town and Parish Councils, and the Provost of Callander and the Chairman of the Parish Council accepted custody.
- Initial proposals Dundee Evening Telegraph - Wednesday 09 July 1919-CALLANDER WAR MEMORIAL. At a meeting of the Callander District War Memorial Committee it was resolved to proceed with the erection of a monument in the public square. The design is to be based upon suggestions by Mr Archd. Kay, A.R.S.A., and the scheme is to be carried out under the supervision of Mr Alastair M'Michael, Callander, as architect. The monument, which is to be from 30 to 35 feet height, is to be built of local stone, the centre block providing for four insets in bronze, on which the names of the fallen soldiers and other relative facts will be inscribed.
