- STONE WALL MONUMENT DECORATED with a GILDED COAT OF ARMS IN RELIEF ABOVE INSCRIPTION (PRESUMABLY FAMILY). FLANKED BY TWO MILITARY BADGES, ONE is THE GRENADIER GUARDS. BELOW the INSCRIPTION ARE HERALDIC BANNERS REPRESENTING SCOTLAND (SALTIRE LION AND THISTLE) AND ENGLAND (CROSS OF ST GEORGE, LION AND ROSE)

- IN PROUD AND UNFADING MEMORY OF/ MY HUSBAND SIR GEORGE REGINALD/ HOUSTOUN-BOSWALL OF BLACKADDER/ 4TH BARONET CAPT GRENADIER GUARDS/ D.L FOR BERWICKSHIRE BORN 6TH DECR/ 1877 KILLED IN ACTION 27TH SEPT 1915/ HAVING SERVED WITH HIS REGIMENT IN/ THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAR 1900 - 1902/ HE REJOINED IT AT THE OUTBREAK OF/ THE GREAT WAR. HE WENT TO FRANCE/ WITH THE 4TH BATTN GRENADIER GUARDS/ AUGUST 1915, WAS REPORTED WOUNDED/ & MISSING AT THE BATTLE OF LOOS ON/ 27TH SEPT FOLLOWING, & WAS AFTERWARDS/ KNOWN TO HAVE FALLEN ON THAT NIGHT/ LEADING HIS MEN IN THE GALLANT/ ATTACK OF THE GUARDS ON HILL 70/ HIS BODY WAS NEVER RECOVERED/ FOR A TOMB THEY HAVE AN ALTAR/ FOR LAMENTATION MEMORY/ AND FOR PITY PRAISE/ DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY
