IN MEMORY OF/ SERGT CLAUD C CASTLETON VC/ 5TH MACHINE GUN COY AIF/ WHO DURING THE GREAT WAR SAW ACTIVE SERVICE IN/ NEW GUINEA, GALLIPOLI, EGYPT AND FRANCE/ HE GAVE HIS LIFE TO SAVE WOUNDED COMRADES UNDER HEAVY FIRE/ AT POZIERES, FRANCE, JULY 29TH 1916. AGED 23 YEARS/ "GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS"/ THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS PARENTS.
