Granite Latin Cross mounted on a square block and plinth. The block carries the four main panels. All set on a two-stepped square base.

Front of plinth: IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN OF RAWTENSTALL/ WHO GAVE UP THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN/ THE GREAT WAR OF 1914 - 1918/ HE WILL SWALLOW UP DEATH IN VICTORY AND THE/ LORD GOD WILL WIPE AWAY TEARS FROM OFF THEIR FACES/ (Names) On front of top step of base: THIS CROSS WAS ERECTED BY CARRIE WHITEHEAD, SEPT 1915,/ THAT IT MIGHT BE SOME COMFORT TO THOSE WHO LOST MEN VERY DEAR TO THEM On front of second step of base: (Names) On front of bottom step of base: (Names) Left side of plinth: (Names) Right side of plinth: (Names) Back of plinth: (Names)
